Lost at home to the bottom club on Saturday
Not a surprise, they seem to have gone backwards in leaps and bounds since Mike Flynn left the club
Well, I for one hope they don't go down. The more Welsh clubs there are in the League, the better.
I wonder if they would have him back as a coach?
Having worked in Newport for three years I have a bit of an affection for them nowadays. Few that I spoke to in work wanted to give him a bit of time but there we go. I’m sure there were an equal amount that had enough.
Surprised he lasted as long as he did. I guess the win over Leyton Orient last week gave him a stay of execution, until the almost inevitable sacking after the next defeat.
If I had the choice of Newport going to the Championship or the Conference I'd chose the Championship. We get closer away games, bigger home crowds, better atmosphere and it would hopefully improve Welsh football as a whole.
Same if I had the choice between relegating Swansea or Bristol and keeping them in the division. Who would want an extra game against Preston, Blackburn, Rotherham, Wigan, etc over a local derby?
Colwyn Bay I think
City/county always felt like a bit of a lost derby to me. I know there was that short run in the 80s but that’s about it. Always wondered what that fixture could turn into if it was as consistent at this level as the games against the jacks. You’d have to think it would become ‘the’ derby due to proximity.
