Thread: Wales if City are relegated

  1. #1

    Wales if City are relegated

As League One doesnt have the international break weeks off, will the league allow the fixtures to be fitted around so Wales can continue using the CCS, or will we have to be moved to the Principality or Swansea?

I think if you have a certain number of players called up you can rearrange games?

I think call ups to U21s are also taken into account so our games will always be called off but let’s not worry about such things just yet eh!

    Fair play

Not my first concern if we get relegated if Im honest!

Re: Wales if City are relegated

Not our first concern no but i think most fans would accept relegation if it meant to tan leaving new owners and promotion next season.

However the fear (and perhaps reality?) Is we are just as likely to get relegated again so feels double jeopardy.

Relegation from premier league didnt feel bad either time as i never thought wed go down again immediately back in the championship. This feels different.

Nobody wants to buy us now let alone a League 1 club.

Relegation is going to be disastrous.

Nobody wants to buy us for what Tan wants. There's a big difference.

I think hed sell for any sort of realistic offer.

I don't think there is any genuine interest.

Quite. If we were relegated he'd have a club worth far less but might be a more attractive proposition for an investor. The only snag is that Tan would probably be too proud and keep going.

I think it's down to the number of calls ups not the league. I think Walsall had a game postponed earlier this season, or something like that

Indeed. So is the club being worth far less actually a problem to anyone but tan?

Ok he may personally lose even more money but what difference does it make to the club? If he sold for 200 mil 100 mil 10 mil or 50p- the new owners start afresh regardless?

Well we could get relegated to the Nationwide and do a Wrexham :P

Thats a spectacularly optimistic set of events.

I'm not sure where you're getting that idea from.

We have a decent number of players in the current squad (under contract for next season) who would likely be better suited to League One and a few younger players who would also probably benefit from going down a level. If we do get relegated this season it will almost certainly be by a point or two. There is nothing to suggest we'd struggle again next season provided we bring in a genuine manager as opposed to the current incumbent.

    Almost certainly.

We just wouldn't play in the international breaks I assume. I think its 3+ players, including youth internationals. We had Rinomhota, O'Dowda, Alves, Ashford called up in the last break plus Lawlor, Giles and a few others across the other Wales youth teams

I'm hardcore, I watched us in the 4th division with crowds below 3k. Then Rick Wright took over and all the glory hunters came out of the woodwork! Anybody else remember the good old days?

I don't think he would. And if there's been no genuine interest, that's why.

Um you say you aren't sure where I'm getting the idea from we may struggle next season then end your post with "provided we bring in a genuine manager as opposed to the current incumbent". Well that answers it!

If we do go down I can't see tan and Co admitting they've got things wrong and going to get a real manager. Wouldn't surprise me if they gave it to Darren purse.

As a Reading fan I can confirm games are postponed due to international call ups. We had two playing for their country last week and our game was postponed accordingly.

    That wasn't the original question.

If we do go down there is zero chance Riza will be retained. I hear what you say about a possible replacement, but that's being really defeatist. Even the Gruesome Threesome would have to reassess their operating methods if we got relegated. Thing is, for all their woeful incompetence, it hasn't happened yet. That's how bad the Championship is these days.

But going back to your original assertion, I reckon the chances of another relegation from League One next season would be practically zero unless the club got docked a huge amount of points for some sort of financial nonsense.

I was only 7 at the start of that 1985/86 season, but all the (limited) reading up I've done on it suggests we were in a complete mess off the pitch and woeful on it. I might even have read that we were one of the favourites for relegation that season - considering we'd just come down from Division 2, that would take some doing.

By the time we'd got to the end of the 1984/85 campaign we were getting crowds of around 3,000 at this level. Indeed, we beat both Barnsley and Huddersfield 3-0 in back-to-back games at Ninian Park in April 1985. The combined crowd for those two fixtures was 6,458.

    Very different times.
