If he gets free rein to play as a winger, I don’t see why not. He should do well.
I'm comparing him to the lad we had on loan from Leicester - beat his man, then beat him again, turned left, then right, and then had to beat him a 3rd time. No genuine pace, just a nippy winger who flatters to deceive. Tanner probably isn't as good with the ball but he has genuine pace and given game time hopefully will do well for us in league one.
The thing with a player like Tanner is that he does the same things whether they're working or not. Most of the time it doesn't come off, when it does then it looks really good, and we all seemingly get our gold fish brains into gear in forgetting all the times he's looked clueless. Will he 'Smash it' in some games, for a portion of time, yes, but for the best part, no in my opinion. He's not the brightest in possession.Originally Posted by MOZZER2

Tanner needs to concentrate on playing football rather than waving his arms like a windmill at the crowd. He was poor last season and had some dreadful games.
I am not sure what "smash it" means but I would hope he makes an impact in the third flight, but it isn't an easy division and application is required.
If he played consistently at the level he is capable, he would be a very good championship player but he only plays well in one in every five games which isn’t good enough for a team with promotion ambitions. The fact that he was dropped from the squad by Bulut because of being a negative influence also would concern me.

Me too. He seemed to tangle himself up in knots quite often without actually getting anywhere. He's got some skills but not the match experience, which is why young players like that get sent on loan. In a couple of years though he could be decent.
Pity he couldn't play against Josh Tymon every week.

but them few times it works and he makes the right pass / cross / cuts inside and gets fouled for a pen could be the difference in games and earn us a decent return of points, I think a fit Ollie at the end of last season would have meant we would have stood a much better chance of staying up, in a team devoid of creativity, he might have made the difference
from a personal point of view, I love it when a player takes another player on and beats his man, its exciting and get you stood up and cheering
I also like Ollie as he is everything thats right with the game, a young man living his best life doing something he loves , didnt work out at Arsenal academy, didnt really work out in the Nat League, joined Lewes in step 3, then signed for us, loaned out to NL side York, didnt really work out, but stuck at it, came back and got his head down and played a fair few times for us, that can only be character building
