Joel Colwill - but Mafico was close.
I thought Chambers was excellent today. Very comfortable, got a goal and made a number of runs from deep.
Chambers was a bit Jekyll and Hyde, cost us that penalty and played their striker onside (thankfully an easy save for Turner).
Honestly, I'd say Turner was up there for MOTM. Probably say JC though. Davies played excellently at points, but a bit inconsistent too. And Mafico deserves praise also.
Mafico a bit raw but I love a player that tries to go passed the opposition.
It’s tough to pick out a MOTM when they’ve all just done their job to a high level.
Joel Colwill for me.
I thought that he was superb.
A common theme this season.
J Colwill for me, run close by Mafico. We’ve got some young talent in our ranks getting plenty of football.
I thought BBM got the selection right tonight, rested the right players, gave others a chance. I didn’t think we needed to play Rubin though, the result was never in danger. Gutted Salech didn’t score but he was a handful, and I think he’s very unselfish. He’ll go on a scoring run soon.
Loving this season![]()
mafico stats from last night think he's gonna be a baller
90 minutes played
1 assist
88% passing accuracy
3 passes into final third
4/4 long balls (100%)
2/2 tackles won (100%)
2 recoveries
Mafico jinked past a player in the second half under pressure, so impressive.
Joel just didn't stop and took his goal well.
It feel very harsh to criticise a team that has played so well thus far (whilst factoring in a complete change in style), but blimey we miss some chances, could have 6 or 7 last night. I think that is the only thing I'd like us to really change at the minute, the rest is fantastic to watch. I think someone mentioned this yesterday in another thread (maybe TOBW?)
Also weirdly need to tighten up a bit at the back. Stupid to say given the clean sheets but we do seem to give away a fair amount of shots, Rotherham match aside.
I'm not complaining though. Been really impressed with everything. If conceding some chances is a result of a more progressive and attack minded system then I'm all for that.
I was worried after the first two games but since then the back four have been fantastic - I take your point though we do concede chances, the opposition so far hasn't really been good enough to capitalise. Check us out complaining when we are top of the league without a goal conceded from open play![]()
