Let’s hope BBM plays a weakened team in case it affects our league cup run !

I thought we did quite a lot of running yesterday. I hope we don't start to fade.

Ref seems familiar. Think we had him in Championship?

Whenever I hear the word Wigan I am reminded of Eddie Waring!

Wigan played yesterday too against Wycombe, so hopefully it's an even level of fatigue.

    Could have been worse.

    Could have been Mr Grimsdale

    That reference certainly dates me!

Wigan are unbeaten at home this season, and have taken more points at home than we have and also conceded fewer goals.

This should be another stern test

What style of football do the Piemunchers play?
If it's similar to PV and Bradford...we're doomed to a other tough afternoon.

They average 46% possession, so slightly less than Port Vale, and more than Bradford who average 42% but 46% isn't that far from 50% so I'm not sure that is much of an indication of playing style in itself.

Wigan have the joint highest number of "big chances" with Port Vale - with Bradford just one behind - teams who get a high percentage of "big chances" often like to play on the counter

they have a 73% pass accuracy, which is on the lower side, although higher than Bradford and a few others in the mid 60s% (we have 84.3%)

they also get a lot of corners, but I'm not sure what that says.

Most of their other stats are relatively average for the division.

So not as fully invested in that style of play as Bradford are, but should still be a stern challenge.

It may also be relevant (or perhaps not) that Bradford have one of the oldest teams in the division, as do Port Vale, whereas we have one of the youngest, and Wigan are also on the young side

According to the local Wigan press they play (or are likely to play) a 5-3-2 with wing backs and two strikers.

I'd suggest that if a team has a lot of corners, that they play their football in the right area of the pitch.

yes but some of the other measures like touches in the box etc they don't feature prominently in

Maybe their corner taker can't beat the first man...and it's cleared before a Wigan player can touch it

Would like to see Robinson start.

    1-2 City

Much as I really like Salech and don’t think he has had great service into the box from the way we play it would be harsh not to start Robinson after 3 goals in 3 games. Will be interesting to see if Chambers keeps his place at centre half after a good display at Burnley at the expense of Osho
