Sky TV To Virgin Media - Anyone Made The Move ?

So Virgin have just finished cabling to enable us to get the super fast fibre. I currently have:

Sky TV, with three Q boxes - No films or sport and pay £60 PM

Talk Talk Internet and landline - with unlimited calls. The internet is absolut pants, its never been great and meant to guarantee a speed of 76, but best I'll get in 40, with it dipping as low as under 10. I found out once they were 'throttling' my bandwidth, but allegedly 'dont' do that anymore ? I've tried extenders, TP links etc but is just so unreliable, and for the pleasure I pay £40 PM

So £100 pm for TV phone and internet. With Virgin I can get their top internet superfast package and a similar TV package for less. Has anyone made the move and recommend or not recommend ?

I did the transfer a while ago but if there are problems (and there have been occasional one's with the broadband) Virgin Customer Service, somewhere abroad, is poor. Any big problems I contact their head office directly.
Having said that I got a good deal to switch from Sky and always negotiate hard but not aggresively with their retentions department (in the UK) to get a good price.
In my package is Virgin superfast broadband, landline (I'm old fashioned) with free calls, Sky Sports, Sky Movies, Netflix and TNT Sport. I have two boxes.
My new 18-month package cost £70.50 back in November and rose to £74.97 in April which was still slightly lower than I was paying under the old contract.
I was with Virgin/O2 for mobile but I'm now with Lebara (go through Vodafone). Much cheaper and free roaming across the EU as well.

Price wise they were okay and speeds were good and their TV recording box (which they are phasing out with a streaming offering) was great but as soon as I had an issue with them billing me for something I wasn't receiving they were a nightmare to deal with as the customer service people are all clueless; even those higher up were useless. You can also forget about speaking to someone who understands the Welsh accent and dialect. Eventually I had enough and vowed to never go back. When you leave one of the questions was along the lines of "was it because of our customer service". They know it is bad but refuse to improve it to retain customers

If you want to cord cut and get all your TV via streaming I'd recommend You Fibre if they serve your area. They are doing a deal with speeds of 1800mb for the price of 700mb with BT/Openreach. It's also synchronous so upload and download speeds are 1800mb

I went the other way last Winter because my Virgin BB kept dropping out and needed rebooting regularly.
ent from 150 on VM (cable) to 900 on Sky full fibre.

I can only speak about the fibre bb - great when it’s working but on the occasion where it goes down, it generally is down a while and their customer services are a nightmare. Very difficult to actually speak to someone.

As far as tv is concerned, if you don’t watch sports or films, are you sure you use it for what you pay for?

We figured out we were only really keeping it because of the interface and live tv a few years ago. Almost everything we watched was itv, bbc, Netflix etc. So we got rid of it about 4 or 5 years ago now. Nobody’s missed it

I've got virgin TV and broadband. I pay £78 per month and get all TV channels (sport/tnt/moves etc all), gigabit broadband and a landline I don't use.
I've had no issues with the service but they have just put fibre in the road, so am likely to change at the end of my current contract, just to get a quicker speed.
Negotiation is certainly key with VM, when your deal is up, cancel it and hold your nerve!

Had virgin in the past but have sky now, web speed never been an issue. Pretty straight forward to get hold of customer service too, whereas virgin and talk talk (who are the worst I’ve ever known and once denied I’d cancelled there shocking service 6 months before and sent me a massive bill) . Currently £70 for Sky with two extra mini boxes.

looking at switching for broadband speed upgrade.

    current on 70mb with BT/EE - £49.99 a month

    Virgin offering 1gb for £29.99 a month.

Saving and sign up deal will cover my termination fee with BT.

I don't like changing from BT but over 10x faster speeds can't be ignored.

Just be aware Mike, the upload speed with Virgin is only 10% of your download.

    Cheers

That would be up to 100mb then.

At the moment with BT I get between 10 and 14mb uploads.
