The pitch was extremely bowler friendly. Hopefully better wickets going forward.
The match would have been a lot closer but for horrendous fielding from the New Zealand team.

Just hammered the New Zealanders by a hundred plus runs in a low scoring game.
Had there not been any interruptions for the weather it would almost certainly have not got to the fourth day of five.
Judging by the fact that there has been little comment on here apart from the discussions questioning why Glamorgan have failed to be represented despite their solid start to the season.
Is it any wonder that the test form is dying when batsmen cannot manage to bat for more than a couple of hours these days?
It may well be something to do with the pitch and weather conditions on this occasion but the game shows no sign of resurrecting itself over here at the moment and with the footie world cup about to start in earnest, the rest of this series will have little interest for many although Pakistan, for me anyway, may create a bit of interest at the back end of the season

The wicket was shocking but it made for an interesting albeit short match. Taking out the rain breaks the game wouldn’t have lasted 2 days. I think it was 24 wickets fell either bowled or lbw. The ball wasn’t getting through to the keeper from the first over. It was no better than a very average club wicket. They need to forget Lords for a few seasons while the whole square is relaid, and make more use of the other test grounds including Cardiff.
Those twenty four bowled and LBWs were a new record for an England game. They played the first twenty three of them this morning on Sky and Stuart Broad said that he didn’t think any of the batsmen dismissed could be criticised for playing a really poor shot. It was a really poor pitch and with Melbourne being marked as “unsatisfactory “ by the umpires in the Ashes test last winter, I would have thought this one has to be classed as equally bad.
