What sort if reception will Coleman get? Probably a good one to start. Normal service after that.

Richards in midfield surely ? Quite like the idea of Paterson in the middle.

I wasn't impressed last time. Maybe with more work on the training pitch this week he will be more comfortable.

Patterson is clearly a good player - but when he's pushed up wide right as a NML replacement or into central midfield he doesn't look right. He is also a bit worrying as a RB in a back 4 - defensively rusty. Ideally he would play as a RWB (competing with Jazz for the shirt).

It's a bit like Bruno - Neil Warnock obviously wants to get him into the team, but sometimes (Bruno at RB against pace) it is square pegs in round holes.

Yeah I agree with all that. Heís not a perfect fit. I like his ability to get forward , heís committed , good in the air (which I like in midfield)

Iíve got. I idea what his best position is to be honest. Maybe on the right of a midfield 3 ? With Mendez -Laing in front of him

Patterson playing attacking midfielder is an absolute joke of a selection

Looks like a fish out of water.

Doesnít know where to run and technically heís poor.

6 defenders at home to Sunderland ffs. Absolute joke.

I think we're looking much better. However, Sunderland are awful. So maybe it's just an easier game than of late.

Sunderland are shit. They are there for the taking. Get some attacking players on Colin ffs.

Heís winning a lot of headers which seems to be an important part of our game these days.

We are dominating them physically. Need a goal though. Iíve seen signs of us actually moving and looking to receive the ball when in possession too.

Mendez Laing be off on 70 mins heís blowing now.

I'd like to see what Tomlin could do here.

I think we look better than the previous few games but lacking cutting edge. Still a bit nervous.

    Sunderland are shocking though.

Winning headers playing in a position where we need him to create something. Brilliant tactics.

Any surprise we are lacking a cutting edge with 6 defenders in the team?

This game is crying out for Tomlin and / or the new fella.

NML is hopeless. One trick pony.

I nearly dozed off a few times in the first half.

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SUNDERLAND AFC. Match thread

Luckily Sunderland are piss poor as the space in midfield is ridiculous

We'll be much better as soon as Morrison comes back.

If we start playing the ball into feet to a number 10 then yes letís get Tomlin on. However I canít see is changing our tactics to that extent.

I donít think Paterson is playing attacking midfield if you ask me. Heís in midfeild and getting forward. Same as Ralls.

I agree, he seems a bit of a flat track bully but if so you have to let him loose on those that can be bullied - like Sunderland.

He is defintly playing further forward than Ralls.

The whole formation is just a mish mash to be honest.

Ha ha good header. Funny old game football, fine fine lines.

All jokes aside I take your point. Heís not very pretty to watch but the way we play he gives us a presence at times which we lack

    What a goal!!!

Re: CARDIFF CITY v SUNDERLAND AFC. Match thread

This is more like it. Breaking quickly, Ken using his pace and power to turn the defender, thatís what we were doing early doors this season and having great success.

We look far better than when we just lump aimless balls forward.
