Russia already has a foot in Moldova i.e. in the pseudo-state of Transnistria, which is a very weird place! However, after not commandeering western Ukraine, there's not much of a supply route for Russia.

The Dniester/Nistria river runs from the western edge of Transnistria and into the Black Sea but via Ukraine at the southern end.

I have been there, yes. on the way from Moldova to Ukraine. Went onto Belarus.
