Re: Welsh Independence
I sense we are past the peak conditions for independence movements, which austerity and the immediate post-brexit era and Covid probably provided fertile ground for.
I am absolutely loving the SNP meltdown at the moment. That's one party and politicians I have very little time for.

A collapse of the SNP vote will mean good news for Labour (I assume)?Originally posted by JamesWales View PostI sense we are past the peak conditions for independence movements, which austerity and the immediate post-brexit era and Covid probably provided fertile ground for.

My thoughts exactly. If we can get Labour in I won't give tuppence for independence. Id like to see a strong, unified, left wing UK playing it's part in improving the World.Originally posted by Hilts View PostIve always been strongly anti independence. UK is one of the biggest aid doners in the world. We are contributing greatly to facing down Putin and we are one of the fastest decarbonising nations in the west. Fantasy nonsense
100 years ago people would have said the same about an independent Ireland - then the poorest part of the UK.
now richer than the UK.
if it hadn't have become independent there is no way I would believe that it wouldn't be the poorest part of the UK still today.
if it stays within the UK, Wales will always get the shitty end of the stick

Ireland is technically richer than the UK, but the overall cost of living is 20% higher - food 25%, housing 35%.Originally posted by Rjk View PostI disagree.
