A crippled and over worked NHS combined with a chunk of the population in ill health that missed treatments and appointments during lockdown. I’d say (and have said several times before, if you’d paid attention) that will be a pretty big contributor.

If not that, what do you think it could be?

Well yes. Considering the unusually hot weather has stopped. Things tend to stop being a problem when they’re no longer “a thing”.

For example, I won’t be attributing any excess deaths in Cambodia this year to Pol Pot’s killing fields.

So if the reasons I mentioned above aren’t the cause of the current excess deaths, what do you think is?

Well yes. Considering the unusually hot weather has stopped. Things tend to stop being a problem when they’re no longer “a thing”.

Don't forget the opposite is happening with birth rates, so I reckon the overworked NHS staff are just too tired when they get home, and they are falling asleep on the couch.

I know for a fact that significant sectors of the NHS were not overworked during the “Panny” , and it’s worth noting that most Covid deaths (within 28 days of a positive test) were within the NHS itself or within the social care system.

Badly managed as opposed to overwhelming busy is what I’ve been told…. Looking at the headlines over the last 20 years the NHS has always been overworked.

Not one of the things I’ve said.

There is a whole multitude of things that affect the population and change across the whole year. This has always been the case, you’ll see peaks in deaths during colder winters or during widespread flooding or abnormally hot summers, etc

There is a current underlying increased excess deaths as a knock on effect from the pandemic/lockdowns. Missed ops, unhealthier lifestyles, increased NHS wait times, etc. Over the course of a year, things happen that cause fluctuations.

During the summer, when you first queried the excess deaths, the highest days of deaths were on the days with the highest temperature. Was that a coincidence?

If we’re to get another freak snow storm in April like the beast from the east a few years back, there will be an increase in deaths. Would that be a coincidence?

If Spring is perfectly mild and we sail on through with no major issues, you’d expect to see excess deaths fall compared to winter and during the heatwave.

If there was only one singular reason for the current excess deaths we wouldn’t see fluctuations in the numbers.

Third or fourth time lucky. What do you think it could be?

Florida Surgeon General on Covid vaccines. He references what the Lancet published... that they provide negative efficacy.
