  • Two cases of vandalism.

Should the culprits be treated the same way if they're caught?

Carly Burd shared on TikTok how the allotment, which provides free food to those struggling, had been covered in salt

The second instance gives the landlord and his wife the chance to say they're being victimised, but, after thinking who on earth would have salted her garden and why, the first one has a happy ending which restores faith in humanity because, last time I looked, Carly Burt's Go Fund me page had raised just short of a quarter of a million pounds.

    Strictly speaking, yes.

I feel like there must be more to that awful first story, especiallt given the time and effort needed to lay that amount of salt. It's great to see money has been raised to carry on the food now work she was doing.

As for the pub; I'm not sure sending five police in the first place and creating such a fuss is making the country a more harmonious society. It's an absolutely stupid hill to die on though. Even if you think the dolls are harmless fun, there is no need to symbolically display them as much.

That doesn't make the vandalism acceptable though - the police should also investigate that, even if some people have sympathy for those who did it.

I have a friend who dated a plumber (who alsoclaimed he was a clairvoyant). He didn't predict non-payment by a certain client but after anumber of requests to cough up and pay his bill, the plumber went out and bought a load of cress seed packets and spelt out on the customer's lawn a certain 'c' word which appeared in spring.

Is cress that hardy a plant? Good on the plumber.

Is direct action never justified for you, even in the face of overt racism?

I don't think smashing the windows of someone you disagree with is the right thing to do, no. Because I am not a believer in vigilantism.

What’s ironic about the pub story is -some black folk collect gollies and other negrobilier items.
Bit like what Chris Rock said about Megan and the royal family in his new Netflix show selective outrage pretty much sums this story up.
