Re: voter ID
Why do folk get so up tight up about ID cards :
Are they on an electoral register
Do they purchase things on line
Did they have a vaccine
Do they have a health record
Do they have, driving licnece
Do they have a passport
Do they have a bank account
Do they pay council tax
Do they claim benefits
Do they get paid as employees
Do they pay tax .
Are they residents of the UK
Are they registered at households they reside in
Are they cared for and registered as so .
If none of the above no need to vote just report to the nearest police station or social services unit ,so they can help .

Re: voter ID
I'm a poll clerk next week and it will be interesting to see what the level of understanding is regarding the new ID requirements, and how people will react if they are told they can't vote without. Can't see it kicking off in mine, but might be lively elsewhere. General election will be the big test. Regarding the OP, yeah, it is so blatant that it must be cock-up.Originally posted by superfeathers View PostNo doubt will be some lunatics waving the flyer come election day then declaring their right not to show ID

Re: voter ID
I feel rather deflated. Whenever I see your nick on here I imagine you in your Lederhosen and sitting beside your Alpenhorn and with your wife in a dirndl proffering the family Apfelstrudel. Little did I know that you are swanning around Llaregub with a polling box.Originally posted by Swiss Peter View PostI'm a poll clerk next week and it will be interesting to see what the level of understanding is regarding the new ID requirements, and how people will react if they are told they can't vote without. I've just checked. There is a dress code at polling stations, but it appears that wearing my lederhosen and feather cap isn't against the rules

You aren't allow to show any affiliation as a poll clerk and the image created above could be deemed as an endorsement for the Monster Racing Loony Party.Originally posted by Swiss Peter View Post

Re: voter ID
probably a cock up, but it seems this particular leaflet was only sent out in heavily labour voting areas apparently which makes it a bit more fishy. even if an accident there should be repurcussions.Originally posted by The Bloop View PostWouldn't surprise me if there's other leaflets like this around the country, that have just used an old template, and forgotten to change it.
the whole voter ID nonsense is all about voter suppression anyway, the number of acceptable forms of ID for the over 60s is far greater than that for the under 60s for no good reason. an over 60s oyster card is fine, an 18-60 one is not
