probably a cock up, but it seems this particular leaflet was only sent out in heavily labour voting areas apparently which makes it a bit more fishy. even if an accident there should be repurcussions.

the whole voter ID nonsense is all about voter suppression anyway, the number of acceptable forms of ID for the over 60s is far greater than that for the under 60s for no good reason. an over 60s oyster card is fine, an 18-60 one is not

It's not about voter suppression at all. Most countries, including N.Ireland do this and they typically have higher turnouts.

Saying it's "all about voter suppression" is, essentially, to use the now popular phrase, a conspiracy theory, that is entirely unproved.

It's true that arrests etc for electoral fraud are very low, but it's also true that we would have no idea about it. I think postal voting (which this won't change) is open to fraud. I'm also a poll clerk like Swiss Peter, and it's not entirely uncommon for people to come in and be told that they've already voted. Doesn't happen much, but it does happen, and it's hard to know how someone could forget that in the space of a day

I've just checked. There is a dress code at polling stations, but it appears that wearing my lederhosen and feather cap isn't against the rules

Having attended a number of poll counts on election night I can confirm that the dress standard's vary.

However all do a wonderful service on the night.

Exactly right. It is clear to everyone (except our resident Tory cheerleaders). Fine tuned in the USA and a useful accompaniment to boundary fiddling. Strangely Organ and Gluey have not yet produced a YouTube rant to explain this latest disenfranchising exercise. Maybe their agenda isn’t what they claim?

Fine tuned in the USA? It literally happens already in the UK (in Northern Ireland) and across Europe.

Luckily your ID will still work as long as the tin foil doesn't cover your eyes.

I've done it about 10 times. It doesn't happen a lot, but it does happen.

The bigger issue is postal voting in my opinion. Not that I advocate doing rid of it but it's clearly open to abuse in large families with dominant heads of the family etc. I very much doubt it changes the course of elections thoufh

Up to 2 million people in the UK without the type of ID now required to take part in the electoral process. AKA disenfranchised.
