Eventually, AI will be so sophisticated that it will know how to tick the "I am a human" box.

Oracle laid of 30’000 people today.

        Copy and paste from X….

Do you understand what Oracle just did..

they fired 30,000 people.. via 6 AM email.. while reporting a 95% increase in net income last quarter..

Oracle isn't a struggling company .. Oracle made MORE money than ever.. and still fired 30,000 people because they're spending $156 billion on AI data centres instead..

and Larry Ellison.. the guy who just fired 30,000 families.. is worth $200 billion.. the 3rd richest person on earth.. he owns an entire Hawaiian island.. Lanai.. 98% of it.. bought it for $300 million like it was a vacation home..

this is the same playbook every single time..

IBM fired 7,800 and replaced them with AI in 2023.. Amazon cut 27,000 the same year while reporting record revenue.. Atlassian cut thousands while profits climbed.. Google laid off 12,000 while sitting on $100 billion in cash..

they told you to learn to code.. you learned to code.. they told you to upskill.. you upskilled.. and then they replaced you with the thing you helped build and sent the termination letter before you woke up..

the company made record profits and decided the reward for that was firing the people who made it happen.

You know what Mate, as much as I bang on against Communism…that has to be the way forward if this shit is our future.

There has to be a better way.

There's definitely a better way and if not Communism then some form of a more equal and integrated hands on community system promoting and distributing lifes benefits to everyone. It has to be much more healthy for everyone to have a stake in their community's health, wealth and happiness than suffering the cruel distortions for the lucky few.

The issue is those with a vested interest will claim the idea to be unrealistic but I firmly believe that's only because we're not allowed to put it to the test.

Larry Ellison a big mate of and donor to Trump and Netanyahu. Doesn’t have the same warm feeling for his workforce. Not only very rich but also very powerful and in my opinion, dangerous.

                    He’s always been a knob.
I supported Oracle Apps back in the day and he was a cock then.

I have been using Claude Code - Opus to build an automated betfair bot. I have literally no idea how it works because it has written everything, I have got as far as data collection, machine learning, automating Betfair using the API, live dashboard and I couldnt even tell you which file does what. I don't even launch the thing, it is sitting on the cloud and starts up every morning. I write pretty awful prompts but I do have a decent idea of how I want it to work, which has helped.

Compare that to 9 months ago when I started this and it basically got everything wrong and I had to manually fix the code which took days sometimes because I am a terrible programmer with no patience.

At the moment it has staked £17000 over 2 months and I'm like 90 quid up, which is an achievement in itself I guess. Hoping to improve it because it did way better in testing so I guess I don't understand how that works either.

Anyway the point is that if an idiot like me who can't write prompts, has 0 background in software development and more importantly understands very little about machine learning, can get this far, god knows how any junior programmers will still have a job in 12 months time. Will not be surprised to see the layoffs continue and ai is going to lead to some real problems in society that need solutions today not in 10 years.
