Not quite sure why that is relevant. Whether someone is right - left - nationalist - communist should make no difference.
Coutts has prime ministers, presidents, politicians , judges, generals, journalists, entrepreneurs etc - some which I am sure I will like or indifferent or dislike.

If banks want to discriminate on the grounds the individual is a politically exposed person - then in theory Coutts would have very few customers left.

The good thing to come out of this is that the law will now be changed. Radio4 this morning had various people on giving their opinions - they invited both Nat West and Coutts to come on and discuss their 'policy' - but the interviews were declined.

They have exposed themselves and their industry of their policies - and these will now be changed.

I can only imagine the lovely people who Coutts welcome with open arms. Saudi, Chinese oligarchs, arms dealers, ...

Yes - although I imagine most of them prefer to buy property in London via a shell Swiss investment company they have setup.

Coutts have opened their own can of worms here - and it's a very murky can, especially when compared to an ex metal trades investor and who had the temerity to start his own political party (like we all could have done).

Same as Bank of Dave up in Burney - that program is well worth a watch

I also don't think it's true about history either btw. Perhaps more so in this country, esp when one thinks of union blacklisting and things, but not generally. Nonetheless, such actions were wrong then and they are wrong now, especially with us all seemingly voluntarily giving banks and financial services firms so much power.
          Example of what ?

Rightly so. Some will have warmed their hands at Farage being embroiled in this scandal but banks interfering with free speech is chilling and no one would win from it

Grovelling apology issued to Farage, by Natwest lady who is paid 5 million squid where the bank is approx. 40% owned by the tax payer , maybe its a reminder to these companies that they should concentrate on running their businesses and stop worrying about and or promoting the culture wars. Farage won a broadcasting award the other week which was won on a people's vote, he might not be likeable to many but IMO this particular win might open up a little can of worms, IMO he's just another gate keeper with the pretence of being on the side of Joe public.

I don't think it's quite that serious, if Farage was actually wealthy they wouldn't have acted.

For me this is wanker bank has public spat with one of its many wanker clients. I couldn't give a ****.

This brexit bore I know was amazed when I told him this sort of thing has been going on for years , especially under Thatcher

He was outraged that his pin up boy farage had been stiffed , he wouldn't have batted an eyelid otherwise

Sorry, you implied this has been happening to political figures on the left for years, but I don't think you gave an example.

Nearly everyone across the spectrum has condemned Coutts and rightly so

And rightly so thought we lived in a democracy? This will finish them another self destruct Ratner moment approaches.

                                Natwest CEO resigns.

Lucky not to be prosecuted for a major Data breach

'The Government are very clear that people should not have banking services withdrawn because of their political point of view' Chris Philp MP supports the resignation of the NatWest CEO after confidential details of Nigel Farage’s bank account were shared with a BBC journalist. https://t.co/VKG9GB6gMo
