No Sludge. All this is perfectly fine. It’s spending public money on the public which Tories despise. Giving public money to the likes of Mone is acceptable and encouraged.

I bet she doesn't show her face in Glasgow , they would lynch her
In her first major intervention since being appointed by Rishi Sunak, Esther McVey reveals she is launching investigations into poor use of taxpayers' money.
It still surprises me that people think it's only the opposite side of their belief who are corrupt in politics.
More opportunities if they belong to the side in power.
It also used to make a difference if one side had a lot of ‘businessmen (or women)’ in their ranks and the other side had a lot of ex shop stewards. Scope for corruption on both sides but different scale and type - certainly when it comes to corruption with government contracts like the PPE scandal.
These days both sides are more likely to be filled with Oxbridge graduates who worked a few years for a bank (or hedge fund) before becoming a researcher for a Cabinet Minister or shadow, and then were forced onto a candidate shortlist in time to join the faceless know nothings in Westminster.
I must be old fashioned or something but it made me smile when she says in her defence that the £60 million is her husband's money not hers. They are married aren't they? What sort of relationship is that with this "his" and "her" money business unless it's just a handy excuse? She apparently has to wait and see if he dies first!!

I'm not sure they do, but, in the case of PPE, the, alleged, corruption does seem to be pretty one sided.
I did catch a glimpse of this last night whilst visiting my parents, I do not normally see the news, it does seem quite staggering what went on with this but I'm not at all surprised, getting caught IMO doesn't bother them, being shamed on national TV is the embarrassment for them for when they get together at the exclusive Bridge Club and the bushy eyebrows being raised as they walk through the door. I've said it many times but will say it again, I'll not vote in a general election again but will probably vote in the local elections only if someone appeals to a particular issue I'm interested in, the last chap I voted for was a chap who had anti Vax as part of his spiel, I think he got about 25 votes 😂 ( to be fair it was worded more of Pro Choice rather than anti Vax).
