Whenever short term shareholder value is the main objective everything goes to shit. It's why our public services which have been privatised are so bad.

In an industry where safety is paramount, the best qualified and experienced individuals should be the hiring criteria.

They aren't hiring the best, which should worry everybody who likes to travel at 36,000 feet.

I don't think it's to do with the quality of the staff they're hiring, just more the company now has a focus on shareholder value rather than being a good engineering company.
even good engineers don't perform to their best in such an atmosphere
