EXACTLY! Good post. Kick the people at the bottom and make the narrative about them being the problem. Sleight of hand. Smoke and mirrors.

How can they calculate tax avoided ? - isnt that the whole point of it - it has evaded them, they wont know how much - unless someone has guessed the figure and made something up ?

Its a best estimate using statistical modelling across all taxes and duties.

Exactly [with regard to tax evasion]. And re. tax avoidance, it's perfectly legal..

Tax avoidance is legal but so is peoples entitlement to benefit unclaimed.

The point regarding this post is clear to see though isn’t it ?

It is. People just don't like it because it spoils the narrative. There're also other columns that could be added over on the left. In-work benefits v out-of-work benefits v disability benefits. In-work benefits is another scandal and lets employers (and governments) off the hook re. living wages. Disabled people have been demonised, attacked and treated abominably since 2010 whilst tax-avoiders/government fraud/corporate fraud doesn't get the tabloid readers frothing.

Kick the poor people. That's the British way.

                  God save the King guvner.

It's almost as if some people can develop predictable mathematical models. Or do sums.

Not forgetting the person Lorraine Kelly who doesn't actually present the TV programme LK Today. Instead it's a programme presented by a character named Lorraine, played by Lorraine Kelly, who's employed by Lorraine Kelly's own production company.
