Today’s polling in The Times shows a thumping 30 point lead and I suspect the data-gathering Lord Ashcroft has provided some local polling data to him to say “If you sit there like a duck, your pants will be well and truly pulled down on polling day sonny, exposing your little blue one. Time to grab your marbles and run”.
He didn’t say “spend more time with family” which suggests he has Career 3 lined up. As a former oil company director I predict he will go to a consultancy or find a new OilCo directorship. This one’s a doozy.
