This is truly disgraceful. I just can’t for the life of me understand this one. I hope the Tories lose every single seat.

No, you-re not being balanced enough there - you're just doing another hatchet job on our Prime Minister.Originally posted by ninian opinian View PostThis is truly disgraceful. I just can’t for the life of me understand this one. I hope the Tories lose every single seat.

Seriously, and leaving my political opinions aside, the man has no political judgment whatsoever.
Newsnight analyse why Rishi Sunak left the D-Day commemorations early, and it's not pretty Nicholas Watt, "D-Day 1984 Margaret Thatcher was there. 1994 John Major was there. 2004 Tony Blair was there. This afternoon Rishi Sunak was there but then he wasn't there" "We have the https://t.co/uT5z93BOo2

If he felt it was a mistake today, why didn’t he realise it was a mistake yesterday? I’d be surprised if he lasts the election period.Originally posted by The Bloop View PostHe's apologised now, so that's OK isn't it?
Doesn't he have any advisors, or do they just turn a blind eye and let him carry on making stupid decisions?
Imagine making your signature election policy about the importance of national military service and then skipping a ceremony honouring those that gave more of that service than anyone.
I await the normal Tory apologists.

Re: Sunak left D - Day to perpetrate lies
Shocking decision.
Okay, politicians do make decisions that cost lives etc and this isn't one, but it's hard to think of a better easily avoidable own goal than this.
Aside from being generally disrespectful and unstatesmanlike, the reasoning to come back (for a media interview) is appalling but it's also a political mistake as yesterday in clinical terms was a chance to look like a leader on the world stage. Hes working hard and travelling a lot but yesterday was a day when just his presence on the world stage was the best way to campaign.
Absolutely mad. He's apologised but he should never have made that call and you have to wonder who the hell advises him or allowed him?
Reform will be five points ahead of them within a few days

Well done James, this goes beyond party politics - I'll try and be fair minded and say that a general election campaign must be a very high pressure situation for any party leader (especially when your in charge of a Governing party that finds itself trailing very badly in the polls) and I can see how you could get into a mindset where electioneering becomes all encompassing.Originally posted by JamesWales View PostShocking decision.

However, as has been mentioned already in this thread, that's when you need yourr advisors and party elders to be having a word in your ear saying, to quote the great Sergeant Wilson from Dad's Army, "do you think that's wise?". Not for the first time, I find myself thinking that Sunak has no one doing that for him.

And if he had stayed - you would have complained he was taking the british public for granted by having a jolly in France.Originally posted by ninian opinian View PostThis is truly disgraceful. I just can’t for the life of me understand this one. I hope the Tories lose every single seat.

It's like me complaining (It's a disgrace blah blah blah) why didnt Vaughan Gething attend the D Day service in Portsmouth on Wednesday. He showed utter contempt for the people of the UK and Welsh guards etc.
Did Tony (WMD) show his face ?

It was a day set aside to commemorate one of the most significant events of the last century. Election campaigning had essentially been put on hold yet Rishi decided he had more important things to do, so left.Originally posted by pipster View PostAnd if he had stayed - you would have complained he was taking the british public for granted by having a jolly in France.

He'd have been better off staying in France tbh, because every time he opens his mouth, it's a few extra votes in the bag for Reform.

Im not saying he should done what he did - just the fact Bob seems to get offended by anything Sunak does, where was the outcry from Wilson when Gething never showed up in Portsmouth ?Originally posted by The Bloop View PostIt was a day set aside to commemorate one of the most significant events of the last century. Vaughan Gething didn't show up in Portsmouth because of the Vote of No Confidence in the Senedd. Why didnt the Welsh Conservatives ensure it took place on another day, so that he could attend? As soon as it was over he travelled by Euro tunnel to France. I'd hazard a guess that Rishi used a more direct form of transport.Originally posted by pipster View PostIm not saying he should done what he did - just the fact Bob seems to get offended by anything Sunak does, where was the outcry from Wilson when Gething never showed up in Portsmouth ?

I’m sure it could have taken a backseat for another 24 hours. He looks more of an idiot sacking the minister who whistleblowed about the donations. I bet he regrets that decision (not)Originally posted by The Bloop View PostVaughan Gething didn't show up in Portsmouth because of the Vote of No Confidence in the Senedd.
