Re: 2% Inflation, enjoy it while you can !
Amazing that it gets there just before an election same as 14 years of shit yet now they have all the answers to convince us for another 5 years - this country stinks of corruption and all the time we point the finger at other regimes around the world to distract from us being ripped off day in day outOriginally posted by North Cardiff Blue View PostIt will be nice while it lasts!
Having said that none of the alternatives fill me with confidence but a bit like the bulut out arguement sticking with shit because you fear what you might get in replacement is not the answer

How much food - or raw food for processing do we import ? and where from ?Originally posted by RichardM View PostWhat's nice? Prices are still going up. Food is still 25% more than it was a couple of years ago.
We dont control the price of food we import from other countries - do we ?
SO we either have to find cheaper sources of foreign food materials - or we grow it ourselves (as long as we can find enough farmland...)

Exactly - how about some controlled migration or season workers perhaps. Fly them in - pay them the living wage, provide accommodation and at the end of their contract they can go back home again - just a thought...Originally posted by jeepster View PostAlso people to harvest it.

Wait for ClusterStarmer inflation.Originally posted by sneggyblubird View PostDoesn't make up for the Clustertruss most are still enduring.
Her feck-ups lasted for a short period and were quickly reversed, inflation was going to fly up anyway due to the global economy, and Covid lockdowns.
What she did mostly affected the guilt markets and foreign exchange rates.
Don't believe Labour saying interest rates are high still because of her two minutes in power.

Inflation is now lower here than almost everywhere in Europe. Italy the only notable difference amongst major nations where it is 0.8%.
It makes the date of the election stranger as this better news was inevitable. Sunak should have lapped it up for a couple of months. Likely to see reduction of interest rates before September too, but not before 4 July

Crazy decision, he was trying to catch Farage on the hop but it backfired terribly, he's not up to the job, nice bloke good with the economy but no presence about him.Originally posted by JamesWales View PostInflation is now lower here than almost everywhere in Europe. In fairness though since he's been in charge we've recovered quickly, watch Labour mess up all the recent good work.
I think the left will try and oust Starmer as soon as they get a chance, there will be loads of infighting, they are all keeping their mouths shut for a week or two to get elected.

Dont keep us in suspense - what worldwide events have you seen that would make him call a July election ?Originally posted by MOZZER2 View Posti,ve picked up on this on other threads . something tells me worldwide events has made him call it early rather than domestic issues
The cycle seems to be repeating itself (I'll ignore the covid / ukraine issues that fecked up everything for every country)
Just when the ship seems to be steadying, inflation in range etc - along comes Sir Keir to splodge it all up against the wall. Raise taxes, taking money out the pockets of the public and putting it back in his pocket to (usually) waste on large public sector projects that run over budget. It's a fine line between taxing and keeping inflation in check.
And they are going to blow it out the water given the opportunity.
This is going to be 1997 all over again - boom and bust (even though Gordon said he had got rid of that problem)
