Seems the 81 year old and 78 year old think the American people want to hear them discussing their golf handicaps. I didn’t watch the debate, but it seems it went as badly for Biden as many thoughts it would. There are calls for a special conference to be held where the Democrats can replace him as their candidate following his hesitant and, at times, incoherent performance in the debate.

Re: An argument about golf handicaps.
I've thought since Biden won the Democrat vote to run again it was a silly decision.
His age was always going to be a factor and he seems to be deteriorating in front of the TV cameras.
Trump is an incoherent, lying, sex pest cuunt but actually appears strong where Biden looks weak and vulnerable.
If Biden doesn't step down he'll hand the USA to Trump.

The Democrats must realise that now and do something about it, but it feels like no-one in the party wants to be the one to speak out and make the first move.

Re: An argument about golf handicaps.
I feel like Biden and the Democrats choosing to nominate him again will go down as one of the great mistakes of American politics.
Sure, it will swing back in four or eight years and I don't buy the argument that Trump is dangerous or anything, but from a Democratic party perspective, and from his personal perspective what the hell were they thinking?
I've always been a bit back and forth with US politics and would likely be a floating voter if I lived there, but there is literally zero chance I would vote for Biden. He clearly i(and sadly) is unfit.

Re: An argument about golf handicaps.
I thought that whoever is the current president - they have the automatic right to go for a second term un opposed. So if Biden says he wants to go again - there is nothing they can do, apart from go for an amendment where they can go through a process to get him removed. Which is what they really need to do and very quickly.
As it stands Trump will be the next President, the only plus points being - he doesnt have dementia. Kamala Harris was supposed to be the next big thing - purely on the basis she is black and female (dont let David Tennant know - he has a problem with these types of women) , but Harris has not taken the opportunity - mainly perhaps as she is not up to the job of replacing sleepy Joe

Newsom was chosen over two years ago, maybe even longer.Originally posted by pipster View PostI thought that whoever is the current president - they have the automatic right to go for a second term un opposed. Apart from when he incited an insurrection attempt against his own government, where there was a gallows erected for his own vice presidentOriginally posted by JamesWales View Post

I think this is right. But it does need senior people in the party to do this and quickly, and most of them are also pretty old and have known Biden for decades.Originally posted by The Bloop View PostYour final sentence is the big worry.

Re: An argument about golf handicaps.
There is no good outcome from the US election.
There is barely a less bad outcome.
The Democrats had a chance to nominate someone other than Biden - but have left it too late now.
I will be amazed if Trump doesn't win. And that is a sickening thought!

Re: An argument about golf handicaps.
I watched a reaction piece with what I assumed were four Democrats discussing the debate. Three of them were crestfallen and talked of the need to replace Biden, while the fourth, the one who tried to make out it hadn't been too bad, ended up saying that the guy who said I did not have sex with a porn star, when everyone knows he did, won

He's a nice enough old chat, but way too old, he can't remember what he just said or get to the end of the sentence he is trying to say without forgetting what the sentence was about.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostSeems the 81 year old and 78 year old think the American people want to hear them discussing their golf handicaps. As for golf, I doubt he could bend down to put the ball on the tee, yet alone swing a club.

Re: An argument about golf handicaps.
The fact that the first debate was held so early in the electoral cycle might give the Democrats time to change their candidate and still have two or three months to try to "normalise" things, but I suspect you're right, the damage has already been done.Originally posted by jon1959 View PostThere is no good outcome from the US election.

Re: An argument about golf handicaps.
Trump's rallies have helped him, he could fire out his lines more sharply than Biden could. Apparently Biden spoke a lot better at something (after the debate, but it's too late by then. Like winning the third place playoff.Originally posted by the other bob wilson View PostI watched a reaction piece with what I assumed were four Democrats discussing the debate. This does seem like a win for Trump.
Edit: just searched to see where Biden was, and it was a Waffle House so don't think that counts for much
