  • Question Time tonight - Green Party speaker: outstanding

Pains me to say it being The Green party but on what he has said so far he could be a future leader of the party, and unless main parties clean up their leadership act, this guy is one persuasive dude. Never heard of him before and caught me by surprise as most Green politicians can barely put a coherent argument together. Great command of his argument. Great speaker and presenter. Body language top drawer. Slightly squeaky in his voice and someone needs to coach him to lower it for gravitas.

But whoever he is, although I disagree with most of his standpoints and never heard of him before, on initial impressions he is a talented young man. Way out in front of Starmer, Sunak, Farage, Gender PHD Green thing leader and especially Ed Davey. In the same class as Cameron and Clegg for public speaking.

If he can cope in a head to head with Farage who is probably the better speaker of the leaders, then he will capture some media attention. Let's see how the rest goes.

The Greens are the peak offer of that irritating, smug and sneery middle class liberal-left, safely cushioned from the reality of their own policies. I have been frustrated for several years that the really important topic of sustainability and green issues have taken a back seat to a lot of cultural and economic issues that are decidedly left wing. I think they should focus on working across the spectrum to achieve greener goals. Every Green I know is stinking rich and drives a car several times more expensive than mine.

I really don't like Caroline Lucas who often makes the most bombastic statements...but...it's hard not to like Carla Denyer and I agree the guy did do well last night.

Bristol Central will be interesting but I don't think they will win more than the one seat mind. Could cause problems for Labour in coming years and they could win a by-election or two before the next election
