some strange goings on with some of the reform candidates at the election, who appear not to actually exist in some cases

seems to be more speculation than hard facts at this point, but if true, wouldn't this amount to electoral fraud?

what would they have done if one of these non people had won their seat?

I watched the whole thing and all the candidates were at their respective polling stations for the result announcements. You need to stay off Mumsnet if you want to avoid these types of conspiracy theories.

      You watched every count?

      :yikes:

I helped with the count at my local constituency last Thursday. It was actually very heart-warming to see all the rival candidates and agents chatting and being nice to each other. The exception was 4 middle-aged, scruffy, beardy and slightly swivel-eyed blokes standing on their own. I guess at least they were there!

Without wishing to name names, they were all easily odd enough to have been posters on here :hehe:

I've been doing it for decades, so it's pure habit now. I got hooked on the Poll of Polls and the Swingometer, and I've even been to Question Time!

                Fantastic.

As so many counts aren't televised on election night you must have put some miles in to get round them all.

And broken some speed limits (not to mention being in several different places hundreds of miles apart at the same time).

As I said, true dedication. Thanks.

It would be a very impressive achievement wouldn’t it. I managed three hours sleep before waking up around midnight, so I didn’t see all of the counts, but I was switching between the BBC and Channel 4 from then on and I’d be surprised if I saw as much as 20 per cent of the counts

Even if you watched every count that was televised across BBC/Sky/Ch4/ITV etc on election night you still wouldn't see them all. I don't know how many are televised - the newsworthy ones that are anticipated in advance are - but hardly any of the South Yorkshire declarations made it onto any of the channels. For hundreds of counts there is no more than an entry on the results banner running across the bottom of the screen and a pop up result graphic that may get talked to... or not.

Gluey was claiming to have watched every one - so he knew whether candidates (with a particular focus on Phantom Reform and George Galloway) were there in person. He didn't do that by staring at his TV screen.

Not sure of the official mumsnet position, but Galloway didn't attend his results announcement.

Embarrassing from the guardian and the usual suspects on twitter. Weird conspiracy theory.

I'm talking about the live television broadcast.

                            I assumed so.

I didn't really think you were teleporting around the UK.

But even with the declarations covered by TV there were a lot of candidates who didn't turn up and were not shown on a platform behind the returning officer. Not just Gorgeous George. So your claim that 'I watched the whole thing and all the candidates were at their respective polling stations for the result announcements' is not true.

Anyway, tell us more about Mumsnet.

I was referring to the Reform candidates. Stop being creepy, unless you intend on challenging the overwhelming favourite for the CCMB Creepy Poster of the Year Award!
