What surprised me was the amount of people who were blatantly committing extremely violent and antisocial acts on camera, with no attempt to cover faces. I hope the police are in their mob handed for the next few weeks pulling people and putting doors in.

Yeah that was one that really got me. Along with the folks actually digging up the road in order to then throw it at the old bill.


Fair play to that Mothin Ali mind, certainly not my favourite politician but credit where it's due. Him and his mates were out trying to stop things, takes some real balls that and shows sone real community spirit. Unfortunately they seemed to be fighting a losing battle against the mob of loons

There's no deflection about it. It's a theory, I think a deeply flawed one that is creating greater divisions by emphasising our differences rather than what unites us. That's a perfect reasonable and sound conclusion. Others will have other conclusions.

Well I think the policies you likely support are the ones creating community divisions, driving us apart, dividing us along racial lines etc. I think we've gone backwards in the last 20 years or so. That doesn't mean I think you are racist and xenophobic.

The reason that's off-the-scale offensive James is that it's supposition, accusatory, ill-informed, implies that I support divisive policy that contributes to racism in the community and..and..and... I didn't raise Critical Race Theory. You did. I countered your view that it contributes to division when it doesn't, it's a theory that has been hijacked by those criticising any criticism of racism.

You were apoplectic last week about Trump and standing up for decency and banging on about divisive language and calling things out. And to be absolutely clear, if I call a post out for being racist or verging on supporting far-right, racist ideology, that doesn't automatically assume I'm accusing the poster of being racist.

It's just that, I've said many times, it's not really a good look to start talking about race, referring to race, referencing ethnicity etc in a forum where, sadly, we are predominantly within one demographic and do not have the views of others who are, perhaps, in a better position to comment. Or, that we need that input to make the discussion balanced and equal.

No, I'm the same. Im not saying you implicitly support it, but I think it's an unintended but inevitable consequence of policies that (based on what you have said) I would assume you support.

I think dividing society up on racial lines is deeply regressive and is and will cause problems particularly in terms of integration.

I wasn't "apoplectic" but yes, I think some people's reaction to political violence and an attempted assassination in which a totally innocent man died was shocking. There are certain things that should cross the political divide. It's also a stunningly self defeating reaction because if people make light of then so too will their political detractors in reverse.

Your last point there; you've assumed that belief or otherwise in any theory should be rooted in our skin colour or background. I profoundly disagree, yet it illustrates my point well.

The comments I saw were complementary towards Mr Ali. Besides that, I don't think Yax is who he says he is.
