Has anyone ever stayed in hospital for any length of time? I'm due for an operation but have no idea what to expect. I'm quite relaxed about it apart from the food.

Re: Hospital
Just please give it rest, this thread is about Alan Lung not childish ranting.Originally posted by North Cardiff Blue View Posthttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c4gvvy786mdo
FFS Drippy's back, I would be pretty worried, he'll probably have a speed limit in the corridors, we thought it was bad, but in a couple of years we will be saying how brilliant it is now!

Hope all goes well Alun. Thankfully I've never had to stay in overnight, so can offer no advice.

Re: Hospital
A couple of mates, both said they were looked after well, but that the nursing staff were stretched daytime hours, they said the food was pretty grim. They had family bring them in some decent sandwiches to swap if they didn't like the meals, but got through.Originally posted by Alan Lung View PostHas anyone ever stayed in hospital for any length of time? Good luck, I'm sure it will be ok, try and get some visitors in and podcasts and stuff to pass the time, all the best with the opperation and recovery

.....and headphones Alan....seriously, you can just doze in and and out of your own world. Music, radio, audiobooks. Plus you can pretend to be asleep when the consultants come around and listen in to what they really think
....best wishes mate

Re: Hospital
I was in for 4 months after my stroke.
A few days in A&E at CRI (this was Oct '98) then a few weeks at the Heath, then in-patient physio in Rookwood.
Had its moments, food was usually Ok, occasionally crap.
Got through a few books.

Re: Hospital
I was also in for a broken leg in 2000. Had the op to insert a rod inside my tibia, had to stay in for 2 days after the op, then the surgeon said that once he's happy with what he sees in the x-ray, I can leave...
Found out a couple of days later that porters came to take me to x-ray in the night (twice) but the nurses wouldn't let them as I was seeping!
I had to tell the night shift myself that it was OK to wake me - two days in hospital longer than needed - and they say there's a bed shortage!
