I watched the Rest is Politics USA this morning and they both thought Vance won, but they wondered how much good it would do him and Trump (Scaramuci thought Trump would’ve been annoyed because Vance had done better than him), but the polls have them very close and although Vance’s favourability rose so that it was only -3 %, Walz’s has soared to 37% - that’s an amazing figure in modern day politics.

Yeah I read a poll in the US that said they though Vance won by 51-49, but there was a disproportionate number of Democrats in the poll or something, so perhaps he won by a little more in people's minds?

More than anything it seems like it was a fairly respectable debate which was probably refreshing..even boring?

If so I think that probably helps Trump slightly. One of the accusations thrown at him is that he is a loose cannon, so any demonstration of calmness for his camp probably helps whereas I doubt Harris' campaign needs that accolade so much. Either way I doubt it shifts the dial much at all.

Nate Silver's excellent - if a little technocratic - website has Democrats chance of winning at 56%likely to Trumps 44%, with less than 1% chance of a dead heat.

I saw a few short clips and Vance was quite slick and polished for a Weirdo. Walz in comparison seemed a little rusty in front of the cameras, especially with some of his facial expressions. I'll have to give it a longer watch when I have some time.

Politico think Walz may be a problem for the Harris campaign.

Walz says he 'speaks like everybody else.' And it's not working for the campaign.

He's been campaigning across the US, just because it's not on BBC News doesn't mean it didn't happen, try extending your news sources :shrug:
