Different politics to me, but undoubtedly one of the major political figures of this century

I liked the guy. Disagree with him on Scottish independence but more moderate and personable than Sturgeon.

Would absolutely have a beer with him

I disagreed with him a lot, and agreed at other times. But he always came across as a real person, with intelligence, passion and humour. He was genuine - not a test tube politician. And a powerful speaker.

Shame he has gone - he should have had another decade of shaking up Scottish and UK politics.
