Driving past the new housing development just outside Hengoed the other day. I notice that they are not using any skilled tradesmen at all. All the housebuilding is being done by giant robots. I get that they are doing this to maximise profits, I really do. But it really doesn't sit right with me. If this is the future then what are all the skilled tradesmen going to do for an income?

    Re: Workplace Automation

Finding jobs that can't easily be done by robots and AI will be a huge challenge for those with decades of their working life remaining.
As for your comment about the motive being to maximise profits, I would never have guessed :-)

I was on a course recently, Soft AI helps people in their role , hard AI replaces people , I suppose we need a happy medium and UBI may become the norm in the future

It's unrealistic to imagine that employers will be legally prevented from using AI as opposed to human beings.

Im sure there's pros and cons but I find it all pretty worrying from a social perspective.
