  • £5000 water bill…..

Anyone ever had a leak before on a meter? Unfortunately it’s not on my drive it’s under my old garage on side of house.
Even better, house insurance not valid as no internal damage and they look at it as general wear and tear as copper pipe in is as old as the house (70 years).
Reckon it’s going to cost 2/3 grand to mole in a new plastic pipe too…..took Ww a month to even come back to try and locate the leak, they don’t see it as an issue as it’s on a meter I think. Only now, 6 weeks later are they offering an aqua line to try and feed led into the main to fix it. It’s an absolute joke they don’t maintain up to house stop cock, only up to the meter or start of driveway. If you have an old house or council house (llanrumney Ely are particularly bad apparently for this) check any insurance out to see if they cover it.

would it make a difference if you weren't on a meter ?

    struggling to digest this one

whats under your old garage your leak or meter or both ?

if house is that old surely it would be lead pipes

You don't have to pay for the leaks if it's not on a meter, thats why meters save water over time as you have to fix it or pay for the water to drain away.

If he wasn't on a meter, he'd probably never know, but would have a nice summer lawn.

If I wasn’t on a meter they probably wouldn’t even know apart from me having low pressure in the house…..the pipe in runs from the pavement under my driveway then under old garage which is and always has been a room. On digging up driveway where water pipe runs that hole fills up with water in about 10 mins, it’s running out along the pipe….its a copper pipe as that’s what they used in the 1950’s

Yeah don’t ever go on a meter, worst (and maybe most costly) mistake I’ve ever made. Welsh water have been ok to be fair, original leak on the meter too so they can’t prove where exactly it was leaking from. On fixing that one, it apparently causes friction on old weak pipes forcing more pressure, hence another burst further along. I might have to pay for a new line but they won’t be getting a penny off me….yiu will probably see my wife on bbc wales news as her best mate works in that dept….and they love this shit.

The original coca cola had a kick too. The full cocaine experience until 1903; and the trace experience until 1929. Then nothing but decay and a sugar rush! It's elf and safety gone mad!

During World War One the posh London store Fortnum & Masons sold hampers for families to send to British officers on the Western Front.

If you wanted they would include cocaine, heroin (not just morphine or other 'medicinal' forms of opiates) and a set of syringes.

Never did them any harm! :hehe:
