    Re: Train Prague to Bratislava

How pleasant!! a pretty innocuous thread, good informative advice without a Guardian link it doesn't always have to be middle/elder aged pot bellied gammons arguing over far more serious issues a bit of a funny incident at the bus stop a little earlier but I'll shoe horn it into a more suitable thread when a topic pops up another time.

In return I will tell all about Brno (the Birmingham of the Czech Republic - Czechoslovakia when I was there) with the German biker gangs and nudists doing their ‘popping up’ thing (meerkats not perkiness!) in the fields around the lake!
I thought it was a student city?

Are you suggesting there were more students than nudists or German bikers in Brno in 1987?

I have no idea about that. Could be right. Maybe we need a Venn Diagram?

          Bratislava?

What an impressive city although TBF we only stayed on the old town side of the Danube, nowhere as much to see as in Prague but perfect for a 3 day break, pleasant train trip from Prague just over 4 hours business class but the rolling stock isn't as business class as we would expect in the UK, however, comfy seats and spacious, additional food and drink on the train if required obscenely cheap and being a not so keen flyer it was really relaxing and the trip passed quickly, the City is dominated by the Danube and an overlooking castle, majority of the young uns working in the bars and eaters have an excellent English vocab, by far the nicest city break hotel ive stayed in, modern, clean and spacious, they make a big issue over the UFO tower, but in all fairness its a bit of a baby tower, we did do it and paid the 7.5 euros for a glass of wine!!, i would say the costs are comparable to the UK and nowhere near the value of Prague, food portions excellent in fact too big and a one between two would have been fine, the cities inhabitants should be proud of how clean they keep their city but if i had one criticism its that the city like all cities has been infested with Banksy wannabee's with ridiculous grafiti, i would have hunted that twat down and locked him up for life as a warning to others. After the return journey back to prague and the time we spent there, Prague still remains my favorite City in Europe of those i have visited, still good value for brits.
