Re: Late-Stage Capitalism
They hate the consumer classes, and will squeeze and squeeze them until there is nothing left. The cost of living should be the priority for any sane government right now, but they're all bought out by the oligarchs and ultra-capitalists.

Re: Late-Stage Capitalism
Capitalism will eat itself in the end. Just before the inevitable collapse only a tight knit, incestuous, all powerful cartel will remain and every living soul will be at it's behest. Mega (unbelievably so) rich individuals will eventually turn the World into a totalitarian dystopia, engineered to satisfy the whims of a capricious few.Originally posted by Coyote View PostThey hate the consumer classes, and will squeeze and squeeze them until there is nothing left. I don't think the problem is capitalism tbh. The amount of people in the world delivered from extreme poverty in the last few decades is unprecedented. The problem is the excesses of capitalism that come from globalisation. Which also delivered massive benefits to us all, but it made the owners wealthy on an international instead of national scale.
I don't think communism, socialism, communalism, whatever other systems may exist have had their day, but I think it would take a cataclysmic collapse to bring in that.
A bigger crisis is probably democracy rather than capitalism.
