The definition of consciousness is not universally agreed on as far as I understand it.
Regarding my suggestions about the subject of your post being divided into various subject areas: just to name a few of them, claims about remote viewing, telepathy and near death experiences would need to be examined individually rather than bundles together, in my opinion.
James Randy put up a million dollars for claimants to prove under scrutiny that they had certain paranormal powers or could repeat experiences - and the offer was withdrawn after 51 years after no successful candidate was able to pass muster.
That doesn't mean that such phenomena can't actually exist but no-one in their right mind would swallow a whole plethora subjects without close examination.
No-one wants to have a closed mind and neither should they wish to be gullible.
