Steve Baker is good; give him a big job.
Francois is a clown and certainly doesn’t wind me up - I would have thought my last message made that clear. There was a time when I would have said the same about Baker, but I’ve been quite impressed by some of the things I’ve heard from him since Brexit - would never vote for him, but I’ve got a degree of respect for him that I’ll never have for Francois.

We agree on that, really. Baker seems decent and would be an asset, and Francois is a bit of a WUM, I think.

Even if Labour had a dynamic, unashamedly progressive and inspirational leader (which they clearly don't) Farage has manoeuvred himself into a strong position.

I think only organised and concerted tactical voting keeps him away from power.
The only way to defeat reform is to stop pissing about , do a deal between labour , Plaid, snp , lib dem , greens and stand one candidate in each seat as the unifying candidate v the nasties ....in other words .....this is what you need to do to keep out reform......now get out and vote

The mathematics with your party now nosing in just dont add up

I think you may be overestimating how appealing a "More of the same please!" vs. "Reform" choice would be. And the parties you mention are profoundly different. SNP would only agree on the basis of another referendum. Likely Plaid too. Labour and Greens totally apart on industrial and tax policies and only share some loose social and cultural ties between the Labour left and the Greens. Lib Dems are a proud major party in their own right with a tonne of voters who don't want to lend a vote to Labour, Greens or SNP. Then you have to agree which candidates stand down where and get all the prospective candidates to agree!

I dont think anyone is interested in trying to persuade reform voters back , I have attended a multi party focus group on the threat of reform and whilst a few well meaning bods from the various parties emphasised all this cosy canvassing nonsense to try and get reformers to switch back it was generally agreed that was a waste of time

At the recent barry by election Plaid and labour both stood and predictably although Plaid pulled some votes from labour .....it wasn't a growth of nationalism ! ....as people tactically voted to beat reform .....unfortunately reform still won ....albeit with a very slim margin

Labour shouldn't have stood ....Aled Blake , CCFC fan saw a big drop in labour votes but if labour had openly supported an alternative candidate ...in this case Plaid.....reform would have been defeated

Plaid , SNP , lib dems , greens and all the parties except Reform need more than ever to work for the greater good and stop reform

If they dont ideals like some sort of independence , green taxes etc can be forgotten about for eternity with Nigel and his mates in

Labour councillor defected. Which is barely news initself, but if many followed it would be, and I may be wrong, but I'm not aware of one doing so before?

I don't think Reform absorbing endless washed up Tories (and I don't include Danny Kruger in that - he is a prominent MP) is that good for them. They need to take politicians from other parties too. A red wall Labour MP would be a huge coup and I guess stories like this make it ever so slightly more likely.
