    Only a few years ago you'd have thought that this would be extremely damaging to a party that has had accusations of Russian influence, but somehow in today's climate nothing seems to stick

                  Long sentence, but rightly jailed. Greedy twat has ruined his career and lost his freedom for what, £40,000? Absolute idiot and I'm glad he was found out.

                  I do wonder, having read the BBC summary though if there are other politicians who may tighten up what they do and don't do.

                      There are plenty of other politicians using their platform to promote the talking points of other foreign states (one in particular) in return for direct cash donations. Not quite as crude as the Nathan Gill - Russia arrangement, but much more widespread.
