Oh what a surprise, Do you mean there was never a 25 billion pound black hole, I’m stunned, I really am.
And she did this to justify tax hikes on the pretending to be angry people? Whilst giving it away to those that do nothing as is the socialist way? How can we brush this one under the carpet?

“She hinted that she was dealing with challenging economic forecasts by saying everyone would have to do their bit to balance the books. It followed weeks of briefings that suggested the Treasury was facing a £30bn shortfall in the public finances.

However, it has emerged that she was told by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) that she had £4.2bn of fiscal headroom days before, on Oct 31 – meaning tax rises were not necessary at all to meet the Chancellor’s rules, which aim to balance the books and get debt falling by 2030.

Mrs Badenoch, the Conservative Party leader, said: “Yet more evidence, as if we needed it, that the Chancellor must be sacked. For months Reeves has lied to the public to justify record tax hikes to pay for more welfare.

‘Bribing MPs to save her own skin’
“Her Budget wasn’t about stability. It was about politics: bribing Labour MPs to save her own skin. Shameful.”

Sir Mel Stride, the shadow chancellor, said: “We now know the truth. Rachel Reeves spent the months leading up to the Budget claiming she would need to make difficult choices because of a downgrade in the economic forecasts that was not of her making. She even let it be known she was considering raising income tax rates.

“But as I pointed out in my letter to the OBR last week, Labour’s story did not add up. It was all a smokescreen. Labour knew all along that they did not need to raise taxes and break their promises.

“It was an active choice to do so, to fund a huge increase in welfare spending. The OBR have now made that very clear. It appears the country has been deliberately misled.”

Said she might not make Christmas, after this, I don’t think she will even be in a job when she cracks up the advent calendar….

The vanity projects will still continue mind until they get exposed…..are we still planting trees in Uganda?

Some of them might be thinking, "gosh I wish I hadn't labelled anyone who didn't vote the same way as me as fascist, scum, etc etc.." but I doubt it.

Fundamental problems don't disappear when a government changes. What the hell did people expect?!

Personally I think Starmer runs a tighter ship in terms of discipline and admonishing MPs etc and he shows more contrition, but the fundamental issues in the country don't change, nor the ease of solving them.

I don't think Labour are failing per se. They just overpromised.

But they always over promise, lying about how much the country needs to balance the books is a whole other ball game and when this gets out properly and is analysed, which no doubt it will be, I think it will see them collapse…..Starmer has replaced half his cabinet already and no doubt now a few more will have to go AND these are the ones that need to be more transparent than those on the back benches….imagine what they get up to?

Running a tighter ship or showing more contrition than Boris ( by the time Sunak .much of his work was firefighting) is hardly a great endorsement though James.

I admire your attempt to actually debate and reason with them, you will have noticed i don't, and treat them with the contempt they have for everyone and anyone who will not comply to their way of the world, their labelling has worn off and people are increasingly losing the care of the label and just telling them to F**K off, I do disagree with your take on Starmer, Starmer IMO via his orders from above is shitting all over the UK, he's continued the agenda from previous governments in removing the aspirations of the young to own a home and maybe have a couple of brats, thats unless they want to forget life and just work a couple of jobs, he's treating our pensioners in a manner that he hopes they die before receiving their triple locked pensions as if this is anywhere near enough to live on, i'm confident its not just pensioners who have sat cold in their homes this year worried about heating costs, wanting everyone to rely on the state he's rewarding those who chose not to work with a message of carry on shagging. Successive governments have committed circa 20 billion to a regime in that the right hand man has just stepped down with allegations of fraud who fkin knew? obviously the full time marcher never!! Government (ALL) is totally corrupt and IMO Ukraine is the head of the snake for the laundering and is why the EU/NATO is desperate for it to continue, The Green Tee Shirt Man is via quite a few reports now looking for a sympathetic country to flee to, he is slowly being thrown under the bus as the US peace initiative draws closer, IMO his days are numbered and i'd not be surprised to see him Saddamed in the not too distant future by his own people and not a foreign actor although either option is on the table.

FWIW I desperately feel for the people of Ukraine having to suffer being used as a US proxy to weaken the Russians after their invasion, their young men and women sent to be slaughtered in a conflict that they could never win but continually egged on by cowards 1,000's of miles away with money and arms continually poured into the country for it to continue, whilst hopeful it will soon be resolved, i wouldn't be shocked with an escalation backed by the EU.
Jeffery Sachs has called the Green Tee Shirt Man for what he is in a recent broadcast and there isn't many more qualified than him to do so.
Sorry about the swerve above back on topic
Cyril and his one eyed army see this coming and is the reason for the increasing anger in their posts, like Russian collusion they continually doubled down on fake news provided by the MSM, we all get it wrong and some of us just say you got me this time

UKRAINE will be the key that unlocks the map

Only ccmb could turn 'economy in a better position than we thought' into 'grrr labour lying'.

The media spent months invoking doom and gloom every time some kind of macro indicator didn't hit a forecast precisely because reeves left herself with so little headroom that she was going to miss her rules, it's hardly surprising she's seeking a bit more.

I just don't care about this orchestrated outrage about every single thing. British politics has become the Hollyoaks for old men.

What are you actually suggesting she's done wrong? Don't paste an article, just explain it why you specifically are angry.

Apart from failing to initiate a Wealth Tax I don't think she has done too much wrong. However the fiscal drag is a concern for lower earners and specifically with regard to the State Pension. I think a just and common sense solution would be to exempt from paying tax all people whose only income is from the SP.
