UK could have quite easily chosen not to be part of the token military deployment and avoided this, that would be appeasement. Talking big doesn't really get you anywhere, Trump can do it because the USA outranks everybody (or maybe the other truth is that Trump can't not do it because of his nature), understandably Denmark are forced to because they are the ones directly at the other end of the perceived threat. Putin has been talking big for 3 years and achieved next to nothing.

No the token troop gesture wasn't a massive move.

The only way to treat a bully is to stand up to them. Trump despises weakness and will exploit it relentlessly.

Already the dollar has weakened because of the tariff threat. If the EU reciprocate and also refuse the EU US trade deal that will impact the bond markets and that is something that is likely to reel Trump in. We've seen before that TACO when he faces economic pressure.

This is not the time to waver but to stand firm and ensure the European response is not fragmented and diluted.

By the way I don't think calmly reminding Trump that collectively the Free World has retaliatory options is talking big; on the contrary, I regard it as statesmanship.

to be honest I'd vote for them again given the other options as I'm never going to vote Tory or Reform.

Hopefully the tactical vote can keep out Reform as effectively as it did in Caerphilly

Macron sounded a little rattled while announcing a sudden dash for growth before the European economy collapses. It's a pity that Germany blew up all their power stations before hand, as they would have come in very handy for such a project. So does that mean global warming is dead or is it just taking a timeout? We are living in interesting times.
