Quickly approaching.
The reality is that almost everybody who works in the public sector or a normal private sector job has faced massive real terms pay cuts over the last 15-20 years, it's not good but it's baked in now and isn't going to suddenly revert back. I have developed a view over the past few years that large multifaceted unions are inherently weaker than small focussed unions, the bma are in a pretty strong position given this and the fact that doctors are very public facing and deal with critical situations.
I try and get a balanced view and have on and off browsed the doctors UK subreddit, I'm sorry to say but they are an unsufferable bunch and although I know it probably doesn't represent every doctor, it has put me off them a bit.
More broadly, the health system is underfunded, doctors probably aren't paid enough but neither are other medical professionals etc. We have a tax system built around the idea that working age people are doing pretty well for themselves and retired folk are all broke. Its bonkers and it needs fixing.
