Fair play that’s a clever statue erected in Westminster.

Its clever and the right level of subtlty as is most of his stuff.

What is weird is that most media outlets play the game of pretending to not know his name and of reporting on every piece he creates.

He's like a state artist or something, it's pretty bizarre as no other artist gets that treatment.

perhaps its because everyone knows who banksy is, whereas no one knows who Robin Gunningham (or whoever it is).

Ask most people about Farrohk Bulsara and they won't have a clue.

It's like not wanting to know that Father Christmas doesn't exist. Banksy's work is playful but pithy, which is a clever combination.

It is a bit like that, you are right! Ive been trying to think of a way of describing it, as the media do it for no one else. Suits both sides I guess.

I like his work, although it hasn't evolved much in twenty years I guess - not always a bad thing. I liked it best when he did something in Port Talbot, highlighting lesser known places is more interesting for me, although of course his latest work suited Westninster

              Re: Banksy

In the UK, things like murals, posters, or “street art” come from a wide mix of sources—independent artists, activists, local councils, private companies . Without clear evidence tying it directly to the government, he or she does appear to be a government asset, especially when his/her last piece was outside the Law Courts with literally hundreds of cameras in the area.
