  • Discourse running dry…What next?

Be it Ideology, Religion, Climate, Immigration, Taxation (and how it is spent) Culture, Race, Class, Sexuality, Sex/Gender, Policing or Protesting…etc

Most people of whatever political persuasion seem to me, to stick to one side as opposed to an al a carte choice.
A one sized Fitz Hall, if you like.

It seems to me that that people (who take the time to post on social media at least) are now very firm in their views and not much is going to give way, while hostility to one and other is growing.

What happens next, once the discourse has run dry?

Views of posters from those who are not polarised seem to be drowned out by those who are.
Debates swiftly turn into intense Punch and Judy shows (usually left v right) that descend into exchanging personal insults.
It's not easy stirring up moderation, you know

social media is an echo chamber and should be given the credence that warrants. Not everyone lives in the echo chambers, and its not always indicative of what goes on in the real world.

A controlled and curated echo chamber.

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Organise and participate in your local community. Make sure they're safe and you're safe. We're dealing with moral absolutionist fanatics who will indiscriminately target even doctors and teachers on the basis they are not White and British. And for what, because those racists are made uncomfortable by the existence of people of other backgrounds?

Some say their only problem are with the violent migrants. That's fair, nobody likes violent people. But when I see the rhetoric from Restore demanding millions must go, it makes me think about the lack of positive impact these Restore supporters have on society, and that they oy exist to encourage psychopathic harm, it does trigger a paternal, almost mother bear instinct in me. If we have to play the game the far-right wants to play, then they should fall foul of the monster they created. And because so many of them lack introspection, nuance and critical thought, I view them as no different than orcs. Dreadful people who the planet would be better without. They're a much bigger problem than the migrants they crow about.

The biggest problem is 80% of the population are easily influenced by propaganda.
