You're surely joking. Brexit has been an unmitigated disaster. And, it looks even more stupid in a world riven with trade wars.

UK growth has typically outperformed our peers in the EU in recent years. There's barely a metric going that points to the UK being outperformed by any notable level. You are incorrect.

Secondly, if you can respond maturely, what do you disagree with?

Waiting a few days to form a more rounded opinion?

Not basing long term economic decisions on a couple of days stock market performance?

Continued losses becoming more serious by the day?

This being a pivotal week in the global economy?

A scenario where stock markets stabilize, countries seek to reduce tariffs and companies on-shore?

Or an alternative scenario where those things don't happen?

What is stupid about any of that?

If you cherry pick which years you use as a starting point you can convince yourself that the UK is doing better, but you would be fooling yourself. i.e. the UK had a sharper decline than the EU after covid, and then a steeper recovery, but still overall falling behind.

There are many sensible articles available that absolutely point to the UK being outperformed on a notable level - 5 minutes of googling can deliver a plethora of them.

The EU contains a large number of eastern European countries still typically growing faster as they develop post communism - obviously lessening as time passes.

Compare the UK with western European peers - France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Netherlands and the like. And pick a metric. The difference is marginal on every level. An unmitigated disaster it is not. Nor is it a wild success story. The truth is pretty anodyne.
