The financial crisis could pave way to UBI which I assume will be digital

Almost 300 individuals including MPs, councillors, academics and mayors from across the country have signed an open letter to the new Prime Minister telling him basic income 'could be our generation's NHS'

How would this work …. anyone ?

Not being an economist I've always been very sceptical of UBI.
Surely, if everyone gets that same basic bottom line, that pushes everyone's standard of living higher, then rents get unaffordable etc and it's still people at the bottom who would still end up without enough to get by and in poverty?

Welfare state Britain already provides a universal basic income through dozens of benefit payments that are up for grabs depending on people's different circumstances. The State Pension is the costliest of all of them.

Reduced carbon = reduced energy = reduced jobs.
