He's been really good in midfield for Spurs these past two games in back-to-back wins, so full credit to Conte for spotting his ability to play in this position

Re: Ben Davies
It's not necessarily Conte's idea as he is currently in Italy recovering from surgery although the media is questioning his absence for so long.Originally posted by Wales-Bales View PostHe's been really good in midfield for Spurs these past two games in back-to-back wins, so full credit to Conte for spotting his ability to play in this position

Re: Ben Davies
They played 3-4-2-1 with 9/10 players behind the ball when Chelsea had possession.Originally posted by Tito Fuente View Post

Re: Ben Davies
Thanks but I'm a Spurs fan so I might know a bit more about the team than you do.Originally posted by Wales-Bales View PostJust watch the game if you want to learn something.
Why you felt to tell me how Spurs lined up when Chelsea had possession is why I shrugged.
It was a link to an interview with Ben Davies talking about his change in role (and about how things are behind the scenes without the manager): so your reply seemed irrelevant.
It appears that you're more defensive than a Conte team playing away in Europe

The tactics were actually quite interesting. Maybe they should get rid of Conte?Originally posted by Tito Fuente View PostThanks but I'm a Spurs fan so I might know a bit more about the team than you do.

Re: Ben Davies
Good try, but he’s playing wing back - I thought we were going to win the World Cup with him sat in front of the centre backs weren’t we?Originally posted by Wales-Bales View PostHe's been really good in midfield for Spurs these past two games in back-to-back wins, so full credit to Conte for spotting his ability to play in this position

Re: Ben Davies
The tactics weren't noticeably different to how they have been playing since Conte arrived. At least to my uneducated eyes.Originally posted by Wales-Bales View PostThe tactics were actually quite interesting. Maybe they should get rid of Conte?
Low block, counter attack against a "big team". Let the opposition have the ball and try to win it in our third.
Kane playing like a modern-day false nine with two wide forwards cutting in, in front of him.
Two defensively minded central midfielders doing a lot of running and playing safe passes to Kane (or backwards) whenever possible.
Romero covering for Emerson and clearing/clattering anything & anyone that comes into his space.
Ben Davies at wing-back makes perfect sense in this formation and style under Conte. It means he and Lenglet can both get in the team which makes us defensively stronger than when Sessegnon and 34 year old Perisic plays in the wide, defensive roles.
I thought we played okay today. Still, we only scored from a long-range strike and from a corner.
Chelsea created absolutely nothing in attack after about 10 minutes, which says more about their current problems than Spurs' performance. Chelsea have now scored 1 goal in 6 games.
I'll happily take 2 wins and 2 clean sheets against London rivals but I'm not going to get ahead of myself.
We beat a team who can't buy a goal and another that were in the bottom 3 when we played them last week.
I never felt like Chelsea were any threat at all.
What was it about today's tactics that you found interesting?
