    Re: Champions League Odds

I watched the spurs game last night for a bit of a mid week footie fix, bloody hell it was grim.
Conte's contract was mentioned and yes it is up end of this season. Might as well pull the plug on Conte now and go for Pochetino who apparently wants the job back.

When we played them in the prem 4 years ago on New years day, that team was devastating and we were 3-0 down in half an hour. The passing and movement was incredible. Now I'm not comparing us with AC Milan who they played last night but that team 4 years ago seemed to be light years ahead of what I watched last night on the box so can only presume they've gone backwards under Mourinho and Conte.

The problem for Spurs is a potentially unhappy dressing room. If they don't intend to renew his contract there is no point in keeping him on unless they think he can finish top 4. Pochettino is available and it could be the simple option if they make the change now.

As much as I love Poch and I will remember his time here fondly - I'm never keen to see managers returning to clubs as it seems to turn out like a disaster more often than not.

Let's not forget that he was sacked too.

We had years of him being linked to Man United, Real Madrid, PSG (where he landed after being sacked) and even Barcelona of all places - but instead of receiving compensation for him from another club, Levy sacked him.

That suggests that they had a huge falling out.

The majority of fans are fed up of Levy and some of his decisions that don't make any sense (Mourinho coming in for Poch being one of them).

As long as Levy is still here then it's a poisoned chalice for managers.

How about Tuchel? That would be a bit spicy. I see the Brentford manager is also being mentioned. Not sure how they get rid of Levy though.

Spicy indeed. Tuchel doesn't play nicely with chairmen/owners.

In another world, I think he'd be exactly what we need. Unfortunately, the negative press writes itself when it comes to any relation with Levy.

Thomas Frank is an excellent coach who has certainly done enough to earn a shot at a (reputationally) bigger club - which Spurs still are at the time of me typing this :hehe:

If I was him though, I'd take a look at Graham Potter at Chelsea and wonder about moving to a team in turmoil when he's got to be in one of the safest jobs in football right now.

I'd honestly take either of those in a heartbeat - I'm just feeling really negative about the club in general at the moment and don't see any signs of progress while Levy is still here.

The Champions League final seems like a lifetime ago at this point.

All managers get sacked eventually, or leave by the dreaded ;mutual consent'

Yeah, but it's more fun when players get involved.

That wasn't the point that I was making.

His value had never been higher a few months prior to the sacking and he was being targeted by some of the biggest clubs in Europe.

A few weeks into the new season and he's being replaced by Jose Mourinho.

It wasn't an ordinary example of a manager being sacked or leaving by mutual consent.

'Several Spurs players pleading with Poch to return | Conte to leave before summer?'
Growing belief Antonio Conte, out of contract this summer, will depart before the end of the season; several players and staff pleading with Mauricio Pochettino to return; other names in the frame include Roberto De Zerbi, Luis Enrique, Thomas Tuchel, Marco Silva and Thomas Frank

Contes problem is hes not identifying Ben Davies as a central midfielder and playing him in a dobule pivot with Hojberg last night.

Wish I'd have watched that game!
It was worth a punt (out of the dough I’d already won). If they had got through last night they’d have been one of the favourites, but as Dembe mentioned above, perennial bottlers/under achievers they are.
Messi looked like he’d lost interest during the warm up, and Mbappe just didn’t do much.
Looking at the teams left, Man City should have a great chance, but alas, they fall into the same category as PSG.

I watched bits of it but couldn't hold interest. One shot from a silly angle from Mbappe and a badly controlled pass, then Messi getting caught with the ball being chased as he broke away on a counter..has he lost a yard of pace?
