Last minute goal gets Notts County a point at Bromley and then a last minute goal means Wrexham have to settle for a point at Maidenhead.

The 2nd and 5th oldest football clubs in the world I believe.Originally posted by Cleve van Leef View PostOne hell of a tussle between them and Notts County. Wrexham a point ahead and game in hand but County better by 1 goal difference. It would be criminal if one misses out on promotion.
It would be nice to see them both back playing in the league.

Haven’t they had something before? Was it then that signed Sol Campbell for a couple of games lolOriginally posted by life on mars View PostGotta feel for Notts the oldest professional football club in the world , they have had no celebrity backing and fuss or dodgy striker signings.

Maybe not this season but I can remember in the not too distant past when they signed Sol Campbell and had Sven Goran Eriksson as their manager off the back of dodgy money.Originally posted by life on mars View PostGotta feel for Notts the oldest professional football club in the world , they have had no celebrity backing and fuss or dodgy striker signings.
There's not been a lot of mention about that in the media (or on social media) as far as I'm aware.
It's definitely worth remembering when there's hypocritical posts about Wrexham buying the league everywhere, wouldn't you agree?

Wasn't Notts in a better financial position and within the football league pyramid at the time.. ??Originally posted by Tito Fuente View PostMaybe not this season but I can remember in the not too distant past when they signed Sol Campbell and had Sven Goran Eriksson as their manager off the back of dodgy money.

Re: Wrexham miss big chance.
Well, yes, because they had just been taken over by a dodgy Middle Eastern conglomerate (and it all turned out to be a con job, apparently).Originally posted by life on mars View PostWasn't Notts in a better financial position and within the football league pyramid at the time.. ??
Why does it matter what league Notts County were in when they tried to buy their success? It was League 2 and they won promotion to League 1 in their first season under the new owners.
You were feeling sorry for them earlier because they hadn't done the things Wrexham are doing (even though they did it previously).
Do you feel differently now you know more facts about them?

Re: Wrexham miss big chance.
Jesus. This is a fascinating read about the Notts County scandal. It turns out that it was much worse than I had remembered.
In the summer of 2009 mysterious new owners promised to propel fourth-tier side Notts County to grand success. It was all a big lie.
It makes Wrexham takeover by two Hollywood celebrities look angelic and altruistic in comparison.

Re: Wrexham miss big chance.
I like Wrexham , not in a second team sort of way but they are a decent bunch on the whole
But the team and manager have had plenty of chances to open up a lead and they keep blowing it
They will go up if they can put a run together but if not it's a spin of the coin

They haven’t lost since first week of October, so not sure what you mean by putting a run together.Originally posted by SLUDGE FACTORY View PostI like Wrexham , not in a second team sort of way but they are a decent bunch on the whole
