  • Players' Middle Names

Seeing as we have now had TWO goal scoring legends at the club with luxuriant middle names in the form of Kieffer Roberto Francisco Moore and prior to him Gavin Kenyatta Gordon, I have been wondering if we have had other players with equally exotic middle names?

Cameron Rana-Jerome's middle name is Zishan and I wonder if Stephen McPhail's middle names of John Paul provide a clue as to the religious leanings of his parents?

Maybe they were just Beatles fans.

That MUST have been at the back of my mind when I started this thread - excellent!

ALF's real name is Glenville if that helps?

Out of interest, how many people on here go by their middle name? It seems quite common in South Wales, and a few Welsh colleagues of mine (in ENgland) do it too. Is it a Welsh thing? (Not that ALF was welsh of course)

The best thing about this is that despite having eleven perfectly fine first names to choose from he is known by a different one, not even on his birth certificate.

My Dad went by his middle name despite having a perfectly normal first name.

Everbody know me as Alfie by my middle name which is Alfred.I have used it for forty odd years. People seem quite puzzled when i am addressed by my first name which is Robert.

One of my best friends in school was Marc.
When we left school to start our careers he was actually Thomas.

This has to be a valley thing

My dad's name was William Robert - but always known as "Bob"

This caused some problems for me in my teens - he kept opening my letters, even speaking a few minutes on the phone before realising the person he didn't know wanted to talk to me.

Not realising how phones and online stuff would develop, all my kids had names that couldn't be confused with mine (or my mrs)
