  • Do we need more Football?

Fifa president Gianni Infantino says there is a need for "way more" football after he is re-elected to his post until 2027.

    Infantino thinks so.

    Leave mens game as is.
Fill the gaps with the womens games.

Of all the things I need more of in my life, football definitely isn't one of them!

If there is to be more football you can guarantee it'll be the sort that FIFA can make the most money from, so in the places where there's already plenty, not the places where there's "not enough".

I wouldn’t be upset to have the numbers of games reduced in a season. And not just because we’ve been shit.

I think the English pyramid should be restructured to 5 tiers of 20 teams. 3 up, 3 down. All but 2 of the current National League are professional teams.

This would mean less midweek games and more emphasis could be put on the cup competitions.

Speaking of the cups, I’d like to see the league cup take a leaf from Scotland’s book and have an initial group stage. Possibly played pre season Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday or something like that. Do a seeded draw based on regions, currently it’s only North and South. Split the country into 6-8 regions and make a small 4 team group stage based on that. That means no midweek trips to Norwich or Peterborough and would also give us the chance of a few local derbies against the likes of Newport and Bristol Rovers.

But no doubt what Infantino has in mind is whatever will make him and his chums the most money regardless of how the players or fans feel.
