Re: Birmingham next up for a points deduction
Failed takeover = points deduction. That’s another new one, following hot on the heels of Reading’s points deduction for breaching a business plan.
If Birmingham do have points deducted next season, it will be the sixth season on the trot that at least one Championship side has incurred such a penalty. I wonder if the EFL authorities genuinely believe this nonsense adds value to the competition?

Moreover, it doesn't seem to stop some Championship sides from thinking these rules are worth breaking, such is the lure of the Premier League.Originally posted by The Lone Gunman View PostFailed takeover = points deduction. Re: Birmingham next up for a points deduction
The issue I’ve got with the EFL is that they appear to dish out points deductions like confetti with teams outside the Premier League, yet badly run Premier League teams appear to go unpunished. Clearly money talks and it does undermine the integrity of the game.Originally posted by The Lone Gunman View PostFailed takeover = points deduction. Double the points deduction or automatic relegation.

Re: Birmingham next up for a points deduction
That will be because the EFL has no jurisdiction over the Premier League, which, presumably, has it's own, different, rules.Originally posted by TWGL1 View PostThe issue I’ve got with the EFL is that they appear to dish out points deductions like confetti with teams outside the Premier League, yet badly run Premier League teams appear to go unpunished. Re: Birmingham next up for a points deduction
To make things more interesting, could all the deducted points go into a pot (a bit like the fines system in Monopoly) then the first team to achieve something random (eg. Like score in the 63rd minute) gets all the points immediately? Would certainly make the promotion / relegation picture exciting.

I’m sure that twat ray winstone would be up for promoting it.Originally posted by Grangenders View PostTo make things more interesting, could all the deducted points go into a pot (a bit like the fines system in Monopoly) then the first team to achieve something random (eg. Re: Birmingham next up for a points deduction
I think because the 'owners' of the PL clubs take on the debts of the 'club', either personally or through another Company structure. They're nearly all massively in debt. Everton have lost £400m in the last 4 years [yet still have actual debts of around £100k !!!]. On top of that their new stadium is going to cost them £800 million. They could qualify for Europe for the next 10yrs running and still not have reduced their debt other than paying interest on loans. If you want to understand PL football 'finances' you have think outside the box. It's murky, very murky.Originally posted by TWGL1 View PostThe issue I’ve got with the EFL is that they appear to dish out points deductions like confetti with teams outside the Premier League, yet badly run Premier League teams appear to go unpunished.
