    Dom Bess anyone ?
He probably is. Id just use Root as the spinner. We have nobody near Lyons ability.

Hopefully with Stokes wanting fast pitches , the spinner might not be as important as normal.

The Aussies have Lyon and Matthew Kuhnemann, who looked good in India

Id leave Leach out. Hes not good enough.
They'll play Leach. You need someone to bowl overs.

It'll be 3 seamers, Leach and Stokes will bowl a bit, as will Root.

Root took a 5fer in India...

Kuhnemann got injured playing for Durham, too. He probably won't tour.

They do need someone to get through overs. Problem is Leach will concede a lot of runs as well.

England are weak in the opening dept and spinning option.

Leach is probably the best spin option but I think he will take a hammering.

Leach took 12 wickets for 26 at 3.05 an over last time he played Australia in the UK.

Umpires soft signal scrapped for the Ashes

The 'soft signal' given by on-field umpires when referring a catch will be scrapped this summer as part of an update to ICC playing conditions.

I’m going to Lords and The Oval. It should be good.

Archer set to miss this summers Ashes

Archer has not played a Test since March 2021 and only returned to international cricket earlier this year after an absence of nearly two years, owing to elbow and back injuries; watch the Ashes live on Sky Sports from June 16; England begin summer vs Ireland on June 1

Bairstow back as Foakes left out of England squad for Ireland test.

England recall Jonny Bairstow in place of Ben Foakes for Ireland Test, but fast bowler Jofra Archer is ruled out for the summer.

                      Where’s Bairstow going to bat?

                        Bairstow will bat at 7

Harsh on Foakes , much better W/K

That’s too low for him if he plays anywhere near as well as he did last summer - I’d move him up at least one place and have Stokes at seven.

Bairstow wants to bat at 7, I think. He's also so destructive there.

Pope, Root, Brook, Stokes, Bairstow. One of the best middle orders in modern times. Disgustingly good.
